Sponsor an orchid, help save a species from extinction

Peristeria elata, or the Dove Orchid, Panama's national flower Panama's national flower, Peristeria elata, is known for its striking white flowers that only blossom once a year. Yet this gorgeous species, La Flor del Espiritu Santo – also commonly known as the Dove Orchid or the Holy Ghost Orchid – is faced with extinction. Unrestrained gathering of this flower within its natural habitat has caused the flowers' population to plummet. Although it is now illegal to remove this flower from the Panamanian forests, the threat of extinction is so dire that APROVACA is working hard to repopulate this species in a greenhouse.

Peristeria elata, or the Dove Orchid, Panama's national flower Help APROVACA bring this beautiful species and Panama's national flower back to proliferation by sponsoring your very own Peristeria elata. For an annual contribution of just $20, you can help our team buy and continuously care for one of these precious flowers. With your sponsorship, we plant a Dove Orchid in your name and build a wooden nameplate that is placed beside your flower. We will send you an annual update with a picture of your orchid when it is in bloom. Sponsoring an orchid is one of the best ways to contribute to our project as it guarantees our continued success.
